Pinellas County Schools Meadowlawn Middle School
The new Meadowlawn Middle School was constructed on a site directly adjacent to the existing school, which was built in the mid 1960’s. The new 173,000 SF school contains 1,100 student stations and consisted of five separate buildings which surround a secure courtyard to avoid unwanted entrance from the outside.
The gym, kitchen/auditorium, and administration/music buildings are all single story while the two classroom buildings are two story. The school is a concrete masonry structure with stucco finish on the exterior. The HVAC system is hydronic with air cooled chillers and the site also contains a large concrete play court and soccer field.
The project was divided into two phases, Phase I being the construction of the new school, and Phase II the demolition of the old school.
