Pinellas County Schools Bernice Johnson Student Service Center
The Bernice Johnson Student Center project included the renovation and conversion of the old Paul B. Stephens ESE Center to be used as a Student Service Center. The Center includes facilities for several different user groups including vocational class for students who have graduated, GED instruction, classes for single mothers and Adult Education classes. The building includes classrooms, records storage and administrative space.
The scope of work included the cutting and complete demolition of 22,572 s.f. to a portion of the existing building and the selective demolition/renovation of 33,373 s.f. to the remaining portion of the existing building. The renovation consisted of a new roof, exterior masonry/stucco wall, aluminum walkway covers, with a new H.V.A.C. system, electrical system, plumbing, drywall partitions, doors, frames, & hardware, acoustical ceilings, carpet sheet vinyl, and VCT flooring.
