The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation recently held their 2018 Preservation Awards and the UF Newell Hall project received a Meritorious Achievement in the Green Buildings category. Newell Hall is the third oldest building on UF's campus and had previously been vacant since 2012.

Students turned the courtyard of Oglesby Union into an impromptu block party, vendors welcomed new customers and a food truck fed the hungry Wednesday as the countdown continues to the closing of the iconic structure at Florida State University. On May 7, prep work begins toward construction of a nearly 300,000-square-foot union complex that could cost roughly $100 million.

In Tallahassee, in addition to the numerous new construction projects, there are also a lot of rehabilitation projects. One such improvements project is for the Florida Senate and House garages, which had been closed due to structural integrity issues caused by root damage.

The Project Manager on the library for Sarasota County, Kim Humphrey, said the work is on schedule meaning that construction is still anticipated to be complete by late Fall. Starting May 1, county residents will be invited to community meetings from 10:30 a.m. to noon and 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. as part of a topping-off ceremony.
