Amenity-Rich Osprey Clubhouse Takes UNF Student Life to New Level
The newest student amenity — a two-story 14,000-square-foot Osprey Clubhouse and pool facility — has fast become a 24-hour destination at the University of North Florida.
The $6 million Clubhouse has a 3,000 square-foot pool and deck twice that size, as well as a game lounge, laundry room, commercial-grade kitchen, office, multi-purpose media rooms and a Pita Pit restaurant open until 3 a.m. Ajax Building Corporation completed the project in time for the 2014 fall semester.
The design, with sloping metal roofs and a brick façade, adds to the residential feel and blends to create a sense of community with other campus buildings. Baker Barrios Architects in Orlando designed the project.
Bob Boyle, the director of Housing and Residence Life, said the design follows a shift in higher education construction toward communal multi-purpose spaces aimed at a variety of student groups.
“It’s all about offering as many experiences and amenities to as many members of the campus community as we can,” he said.
Other Ajax-managed projects at UNF have included the award-winning College of Education and Human Services building and the Biological Sciences facility.
