Ajax Building Corporation Begins Construction on Assisted Living, Memory Care Community Near Centre of Tallahassee
Ajax Building Corporation has begun work on Tapestry Senior Living of Tallahassee, an amenity-rich three-acre assisted living, memory care and rehabilitation community in close proximity to the new Centre of Tallahassee and I-10.
The $10.8 million project involves converting the former Wingate Hotel into a 105-unit assisted living facility. It also includes constructing a four-story, 44-unit memory care and rehabilitation center and enhancing green spaces with courtyards, walking paths and sitting areas.
The first floor of the new 38,000-square-foot building will contain common spaces for the residents, including access to a secured courtyard. It will house physical rehabilitation services that can be used by residents and the general public.
Tapestry will include full service dining facilities, a coffee café, theater, chapel, fitness area, salon, and activity rooms for a wide range of activities for seniors.
Constructed in 2003, the former four-story hotel building will get a full exterior renovation, with improved lighting and secured entrances. Inside, renovations will be extensive, with bathrooms converted to roll-in low threshold showers with grab bars and new finishes and flooring throughout.
Located at 2516 West Lakeshore Drive, the project is expected to be completed in November.
