We’re Kicking Off 14 New Projects
There’s a buzz of activity at AjaxGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/ this spring as a bevy of new projects begin to take root throughout the Southeast.
Construction sites and officesGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/contact-us/ in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina are gearing up for 14 new projects. These include a prototype model high school, an energy-saving branch library and a critical jail expansion.
We also will be restoring two iconic historic landmarks, converting an elementary school into a STEM campus and transforming idle space into a university research lab to attract scientists.
Here’s a quick look at our recently awarded projects.
Largo High SchoolGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/largo-high-school/ has been on Pinellas County’s to-do list for a nearly dozen years. The new $49 million home of the Packers will be completed in 2017, but built for the year 2050. It’s modeled after a college campus and spans 242,000 SF of classrooms, a student union, gym and central energy plant.
The University of Georgia’s Fine Arts BuildingGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/uga-fine-arts-renovation/ in Athens is rich in history and the $2.3 million renovation honors the past while transforming the classroom and lecture space. It will include ADA upgrades, new finishes, acoustical treatments, seating and A/V systems to transform the space into a fully modern and state-of-the-art learning environment.
The City of Clearwater’s new $5.1 million Countryside Branch LibraryGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/countryside-branch-library/ will seek LEED Certification. Residents have contributed their ideas and wishes for this 22,500 SF single-story building that will serve as the “heart” of the Countryside community. It should be completed in July 2015.
The Georgia Regents University $2.8 million renovation project of the Cancer Research LabGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/georgia-regents-university-cancer-research-lab/ in Augusta will build out the first floor shell space. The project will be used as a recruiting tool for scientists and adds wet bench tops, new shared equipment and microscope areas, shared tissue culture labs, washers, autoclaves, freezers, offices and cold rooms.
Built on an active and occupied site, the $16 million Putnam County Jail ExpansionGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/putnam-jail-expansion/ includes two housing pods with a total of 448 beds. It will be constructed of pre-engineered metal using steel cell technology and will add a Medical and Program Facility and kitchen storage.
Dating back to the 1940s, the Florida Supreme CourtGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/department-of-management-services-florida-supreme-court-repairs/ building in Tallahassee will be renovated without disrupting justices. Its iconic copper roof, concrete tile, roof sections and selective exterior walls will be replaced. The $4 million project will add exterior security barriers for protection and ADA improvements will be made inside.
Renovations to the Joseph E. Kennedy BuildingGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/ogeechee-technical-college-joseph-e-kennedy-buildingannexrenovations/ at Ogeechee Technical College will further develop the student-centered environment on this Statesboro campus. The $2.2 million project will enhance the “one stop shop” student and visitor entrance, add a signature food service area and modernize the auditorium.
Sanders Memorial Elementary SchoolGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/4890/ in Pasco County will receive a $14 million conversion into a STEM Magnet School. The USGBC LEED project touches nearly every part of the school and incorporates new sustainable designs, technology and construction methods.
Public access also will be a high priority while $8 million in renovations and additions are made both inside and out to Okaloosa County’s CourthouseGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/okaloosa-county-crestview-courthouse/ in Crestview. Originally built in 1953, the new complex will provide new courtroom space and modernize the existing space.
Renovations and additions totaling $5.5 million to the highly used Palm Coast Community CenterGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/city-of-palm-coast-community-center/ will be a welcome sight for residents. Ajax will take great care to protect and preserve the mature trees while expanding the complex, the parking lot and amenities to support growth in the community for many years to come.
The main library, lobby and stacks will be renovated both this summer and next at New College’s Jane Cook LibraryGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/new-college-of-florida-jane-cook-library/. Added emphasis will be made by Ajax to control the climate in the construction zones so that no moisture harms any documents while ensuring visitor safety since the facility will be open during the $3 million construction project.
The School District of Osceola County’s $3.1 million project at Osceola Central AvenueGo to https://www.ajaxbuilding.com/portfolio-item/school-district-of-osceola-central-avenue-elementary-school/ in Kissimmee will add 14 new classrooms and will be completed for this summer.
Leon County Schools recently selected Ajax to build upon the recent success of similar projects. The $1 million project at Oak Ridge Elementary in Tallahassee includes a stage addition to the existing cafeteria and renovations to the administration area.
